Update on The World’s Greatest Mom: Dear, Dear Dear Deirdre

Liz and I had a pleasant pre-holiday visit with Deirdre in her home in Folsom. It's always an uplifting, love-filled, positive event. When I say event, I mean their home is high energy, in constant motion. Deirdre misses being able to physically participate in the CNCV meetings and activities. She is looking forward to actively participating again. Deirdre is always happy to hear from our Cherokee members to hear what they and their families are up to, please don't hesitate to give her a call, she really appreciates personal calls. She is spending up to 60 hours a week as an out-patient receiving cancer fighting transfusions. On occasion, she has to be confined at the hospital for various lengths of time. When that happens, she feels like she's in prison. Because of chemo treatments, she has to be cautious about personal visits with friends and families. I asked her to give us an update on her very busy talented sons, Aidan and Declan.

From Deirdre:

“Aidan is a classical trombonist and a music teacher. This fall he performed with professional orchestras and is a member of Fresno State Bands. He is preparing for his junior recital while fixing the transmission in his beloved car and being part of a service fraternity.

“Declan Is a jazz trombonist performing at major Jazz conferences in New Orleans and Sacramento and is a member of the Folsom High Jazz Band. He was selected for the All-state Symphonic Band. He also finished his Eagle Scout Project.

“Both boys help me so much as I travel through a very long cancer treatment for AML.”

Deirdre is a Therapist who journals about her health journey and will be writing something for our newsletter on social support for those with cancer or long term illness.

What I can say about Aidan and Declan is, "Trombonists are the Best" and "Apples don't fall far from the Tree".
